Members of Waterford City and County Council approved the publication of a new City and County Draft Development Plan for the period 2022-2028 at a special meeting held on the 31st May 2021.
That Draft Plan is now available to view online
The Development Plan sets the agenda for the development of the City and County up to the year 2028 and beyond. All development, whether it be residential, industrial, commercial or amenity, must generally take place in accordance with the development plan and there is an obligation on the authority to seek to secure the objectives of the plan. In addition, the plan will form the basis for all major capital investment by both the public and private sectors, including capital projects undertaken by the local authority itself. The plan is therefore a strategic blueprint for the spatial, economic, social and environmental future of the City and County.
The plan making process is a collaborative one and we are now inviting written submissions from all interested individuals and groups between now and Monday 30th August 2021. Submissions can be made online by registering on https://consult.waterfordcouncil.ie or in writing marked “Draft City and County Development Plan” to the Planning Department, Waterford City and County Council, Menapia Building, The Mall, Waterford City.
All submissions should include a contact name and address, a map (where appropriate) and, where relevant, details of any organisation, community group or company etc., on whose behalf the submission is being made. All third party submissions will be made available for public viewing on the Council’s consultation website during the plan-making period.
If you have ideas or opinions on the future of your area, this is the ideal forum in which to share them.
