Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber wins Virtual Event of the Year at Chamber Awards 2021
Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber was today (17 June 2021) named the winner of the Virtual Event of the Year Award at the Chamber Awards 2021.
The awards, hosted by Chambers Ireland and sponsored by Zurich, recognise the outstanding work of chambers of commerce throughout the country in supporting local, regional and national business. They also provide an opportunity to share successful event ideas, campaigns and policies that have contributed to the development of chambers and business more broadly.
Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber was named the leading chamber in its category for its Dungarvan Live project. This was Dungarvan’s first online fashion show and was broadcast on Facebook Live in December 2020. Within 24 hours, more than 10,000 people had viewed the show across Ireland, the UK, America, Australia and Asia. It was a feast of enjoyment & style. Eunice Power from (And Chips & Eunice Power Cooking For You) supported by Regina Mangan (Liberty Blue estate Agents) and Paul Flynn (Tannery restaurant, Townhouse & Cookery School) combined to be a brilliant on-screen team.
Evidence showed that local retail sales increased, and shops gained new customers and social media followers after the event.
Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland Ian Talbot said,
“Chambers have been incredibly active over the last year adapting to change, overcoming challenges and, most importantly, supporting their members. While it has been a year like no other, our judging panel was hugely impressed with the quality of work that was delivered throughout this period.
“Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber’s victory in the Virtual Event of the Year category is richly deserved and I’m very pleased to congratulate them on their success. “
Jenny Beresford Chamber CEO was delighted to receive the Award saying, “The objective of this initiative was to promote stock from each business coming out of the Covid lockdown and to share what an amazing retail destination Dungarvan is. The outcome was this good news reached our local target audience and was also watched in other Continents and ultimately resulted in online sales. This event showcased the fantastic town of Dungarvan and the quality retail offering we enjoy here peppered with beautiful scenes of Dungarvan & surrounds. As much a promo video of the area as for the fashions.”
Jenny continues, “It was so encouraging to see professionals associated with other sectors coming together and adding their energy to promote retail. These are rapidly changing times for sure, and we know that together we’re better.”
Director of Corporate Life and Pensions at Zurich Ireland, Joe Creegan commented,
“Zurich is delighted to once again support the annual Chamber Awards. It is more important than ever to acknowledge the excellence of the Chamber network and the resilience of their members as they continue to support local economic development. We are proud to be associated with these awards and to support the important work Chambers undertakes in fostering a vibrant business community of all sizes and sectors across Ireland.”
The annual Chamber Awards seek to recognise the outstanding work of the Chambers Ireland network around the country and present an opportunity for local and county chambers to showcase their achievements and collaborations.
Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber wishes to acknowledge the Waterford Local Enterprise Office for supporting this event under Shop Waterford Support Local initiative.
Huge appreciation also to John Bermingham from All That Can Be Productions for all his work putting this together and to Eunice Power, Regina Mangan and Paul Flynn for giving their time and skills presenting this very successful promotional event.
The event was streamed on facebook live through Dungarvan Chamber Page and Waterford In Your Pocket. It was simultaneously aired in 2 screens in Movies @ Dungarvan for a live (but distanced) audience.
