Menopause In The Workplace – Support Pack For Employers
The Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber has created a ‘Menopause In The Workplace’ Support Pack for employers.
Conscious that Menopause affects 30% of female Employees in Ireland today, and that it is expected that a Menopause At Work Policy will be mandatory in the not too distant future for businesses with 250+ staff, the Dungarvan & West Waterford have created a Menopause In The Workplace Support Pack for employers.
The first Chamber in Ireland to address Menopause in the Workplace, Jenny Beresford CEO of the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber explains how this came about. “Menopause is everywhere these days! For something that was a ‘secret’ for centuries, it is now being totally interrogated and discussed as it pertains to all aspects of life, including how Menopause affects women at work. The D&WW Chamber prides itself on how proactive it is to address issues and provide assistance to employers and employees. This is another circumstance where Chamber can facilitate learning for both parties and break down what could be awkward situations. Ultimately this is about awareness and understanding and working together so employers have staff retention and employees are considered and therefore productive and happy.”
The Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber was also the first Chamber in Ireland to run an online collaborative event working with The Menopause Hub. The online event attracted business owners, managers, supervisors, team leads, menopause at work & wellness at work ambassadors and HR professionals. The participation demonstrated a demand that employers and workplaces wish to support women during menopause.
