Judging Methodology

Entries will be judged on the basis of the information provided in the completed entry form, eligibility, and responses to the general and prescribed questions in the submission.

All entries are evaluated in accordance with the Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber & FBD Awards judging assessment criteria.

Judging Assessment

All entries are assessed as per the Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber & FBD Awards Judging Methodology. A numerical grading system is utilised and weighted against the various sections of the submission during the assessment phase. Judges will be looking for evidence of innovation, the successful exploitation of new ideas in all aspects of the running of the company and an understanding that continuous improvement through innovation is essential to the success of the business.

Scoring

Judges will make an assessment of all aspects of the company and score against company performance as per the guidelines/indicators specified in judging criteria.

Scoring will be rated as follows:-

5 = excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = fair, 1 = poor

  • There will be some flexibility afforded in terms of applicant’s prominence in one key area.
  • In scoring the ‘Business’ section, judges should look to see how well the company has performed and to what extent the individual has demonstrated that they understand their performance and the business principles involved.
  • In scoring the ‘Ambassador’ section, judges should look to see the contribution made by the employee to the business or community, how well the employee / person had delivered over and above their required tasks and their commitment to going the extra mile.

At the final stage of interview, Judges will have a complete picture of each company.  The judges’ scores will be entered on to an individual Score Card and the results will determine both the Category Runner-up and the Category Winner.  The decision of the judges is final.

Interviews are limited to 15 minutes per applicant.

If candidates are not available for a face to face interview, telephone/ skype interviews can be arranged, however penalties will apply to scoring.

All scores will be entered into a spreadsheet and these, together with the category winners’ application forms, will be used by the judges in deciding the overall winner.
