The Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber has been honoured with the prestigious Menopause Workplace Excellence Award 2024 in the Best Small Business category. This recognition, presented by The Menopause Hub Academy in partnership with Great Place to Work Ireland, celebrates the Chamber’s pioneering work in fostering menopause-friendly workplaces.
The D&WW Chamber has been a leading advocate for fostering workplaces that support staff in all circumstances, including actively promoting menopause-inclusive practices. By encouraging member businesses to implement these policies, the D&WW Chamber aims to build healthier, more inclusive work environments where women can thrive without fear of discrimination or discomfort.
Speaking about the award, the Chamber’s CEO said, “We are thrilled to be recognised nationally for our efforts in championing menopause wellness in the workplace. Raising awareness of the challenges surrounding menopause and providing the necessary support and resources not only fosters equality and inclusion, but it also honours the contributions women make to the workforce. Our goal is to create an empowering and respectful workplace that values all employees.”
The Menopause Workplace Excellence Awards recognise organisations across Ireland that are making significant strides toward creating menopause-friendly environments. Sponsored by Irish Life Health and Astellas, these awards honour businesses that ensure menopause is understood, accommodated, and supported. With nearly 10% of women leaving their jobs due to menopause symptoms, the need for awareness and supportive workplace policies has never been more urgent. Fostering a menopause-inclusive workplace not only aids in staff retention but also improves morale.
Despite its impact, menopause remains a taboo subject in many workplaces. Over 90% of women have expressed the need for menopause awareness training for managers and HR staff, as well as formal workplace policies. By leading this initiative, the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber is helping member businesses retain valuable talent while ensuring that every employee can work with dignity and respect.
To further support this cause, the Chamber invites all businesses to an upcoming online event, ‘Menopause in the Workplace Information Session,’ taking place on Tuesday, 15th October, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
This session, led by Loretta Dignam, CEO & Founder of The Menopause Hub, will break down the stigma surrounding menopause, clarify common misconceptions, and provide actionable steps for creating menopause-friendly workplaces. Awarded Event of the Year 2023 by Chambers Ireland, this session is essential for business owners, managers, team leaders, and HR professionals who want to promote a more inclusive work environment.
