Dungarvan Aglow is a 6 week festival inspired by the unique illuminated features situated across Dungarvan town and harbour. The laden Calendar of Events runs from 24 November until 6 January 2020 and has a diverse and interesting array of activities and events to suit all tastes, ages and interests.

Dungarvan Aglow has an appeal for each generation.

Dungarvan is one of Ireland’s fastest expanding tourist towns; Home to the Waterford Greenway, famous chefs, boutiques, artisan food producers, renowned West Waterford Festival of Food, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Comeragh Mountains, this town is a real pleasure. Medal winners in Entente Florale European Award & Tidy Towns 2019; Presentation is a big deal!

Visit Dungarvan Aglow and experience the majestic lights and illuminated features including a 25 foot stag in Walton Park, Christmas trees on the pontoon glistening in the harbour, a life size bauble in which you can take memorable festive photos.

Come visit and enjoy art exhibitions, wreath making demonstrations, vintage car run, country market, Christmas dancing and so much more! Savor the array of outdoor and indoor activities including walking or cycling the Waterford Greenway by day and maybe a vintage car drive by night followed by a dinner in an award winning restaurant. The Dungarvan Aglow festival is supported by Waterford City & County Council. It is operated through the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber Office with the help of a voluntary committee. The elaborate calendar of events and financial funding is also supported by local businesses, new illuminated features are supported by the Waterford Leader Partnership.

Waterford city gets a sprinkling of Christmas magic as Winterval presents a brand-new interactive Wizards and Dragons exhibition for its 2019 festival. Featuring animatronic dragons, Winterval, Ireland’s largest Christmas festival, will be the first location in Ireland to host the Wizards + Dragons exhibition. Attracting over 500,000 visitors each year, Ireland’s Christmas Capital is also delighted to see Santa’s Grotto returning to the enchanting 750-year-old Choristers Hall and Undercroft, located at Waterford’s Medieval Museum. The eighth annual Winterval festival has over 60 free and ticketed events, running from 23 November to 23 December with more details see www.winterval.ie.

Further highlights include a never-before-seen free festive wonderland by Ireland’s renowned street theatre company, Spraoi at Constitution Square. Further new events include a free Outdoor Cinema at The Applemarket and a Star Flyer at the Tower Hotel.

Winterval On Ice, the 600sqm ice rink of real ice will be located at the new location of Bolton Street Car Park, while visitors can journey through the heart of Winterval on the Winterval Express Train and horse drawn sleigh. The iconic big wheel, Waterford Eye, is at Merchants Quay and a brand-new 3D music and lights show for Winterval Illuminates takes place at Cathedral Square. There will also be Winterval Christmas Markets and pop-up shops at Arundel and Cathedral Squares, along with the Garter Lane Christmas Craft Fair at Garter Lane Arts Centre.
